Committee Reports
- Outreach (Scott Hanson).
The committee meets Mondays at 5:00 and will set group calling dates
at their first meeting.
- Worship meets Thursdays at 8 AM.
- Education (Tim Koehler and Ryan Anderson). They asked for
speaker ideas. Some of our ideas: David Ward, county supervisor
Scott McCormick,
the student government president, the head of the local Habitat for
Humanity.
Also, Brent and Laurie are teaching Bible studies.
- Social Ministry (Teresa Palumbo and Korie Lebert).
They had a good turnout to serve a meal to senior citizens on
Saturday, Sept. 9.
Some Thursday social concerns lunch topics for this semester are
alcohol abuse, eating disorders,
depression and suicide, and Habitat for Humanity.
Next semester's topics will concern the countries for the Eastern
Europe '96 trip.
- Social Activities (Krista Bultmann).
The Welcome Banquet is Wed, Sept 13. After that, the next big
activity is a
Martin Luther's birthday dance November 10th. There are no potlucks
or game nights this semester due to the many other activities.
- Hospitality (Nate Blair and Andy Lubansky).
They want to get more people to greet. There's a Hospitality
get-together and recruitment party coming up. The new hospitality
feature this month is music at
the happy half hour.
- Fine Arts. There's an artist reception on Sunday
September 24th for the artist whose works currently adorn our walls.
- Staff: The Bethel-sponsored American Player's Theatre trip
is Sunday, September 17th. Keep your calendars open for the Lutheran
Student Movement national retreat over New Year's in Southern
California. The Campus Center has
a new student lecture series this year: once a month, a student
member gives a talk about something that interests him.
New Business
- Staff finally has email. They can be reached at
PrBrentC@aol.com (Brent) and LaurieFP@aol.com (Laurie). Scott will
find out if the center can set up a web
page with our America OnLine account.
- Andrew pointed out that we have had trouble lately getting
volunteers to wash dishes at cost supper, and suggested we consider
letting dishwashers eat free.
(for a weekly cost of $4). We'll think about it.
