Minutes of the SCC meeting held on Sunday, September 11, 1994 Attending: Nikki, Nate, Jon, Ryan, Bryan, Brent, Christa, Eric, Scott, Laurie, Jeremy The meeting opened with devotions by Bryan. 1. Committee reports. Outreach (Ryan Anderson) They held a cookout to welcome new people September 7th and are continuing monthly calling nights starting Sept. 19. The outreach budget of $100 isn't enough to support all of their activities; we agreed that they may spend more. Worship (Jon Bohmann) The committee has six members now, a good size. Education (Eric Rudeen) We are bringing in Dean Rouse in October and Pat Richter in November for fireside chats. These could also be good opportunities for outreach and publicity. Social Ministry (Laurie) Thursday lunch topics are religion, relationships, and reality. Social Activities (Krista Bultmann) The dance Friday, Sept. 9 was so much fun we agreed to have one each month. We'll also have informal games nights every month. Directing Committee (Bryan Anderson) The lights outside the front of the building were corroded and ripped out. They are discussing what to do when they are replaced and welcome suggestions. Hospitality (Nate Blair) This new committee is chaired by Nate. They will change the host's job. Now we have two hosts who greet people as they walk in the door. The new and improved version has one host at the door, one in charge of nametags, and one at large hunting out new people. Hospitality will now recruit the hosts instead of the worship committee. They plan to have an orientation and pizza party for the new hosts. 2. The welcome banquet is Wed. Sept. 21. The SCC and the outreach committee are hosting it. The duties involved are calling people, cooking the lasagna, setting up and decorating, and programming. 3. Offerings this semester will be donated to three organizations. September--the Red Cross to help victims of the recent tornadoes. October--Special Olympics. November and December--Oxfam hunger relief. 4. Jodi's commissioning is Sept. 28th. The directing committee will provide a feast of wonderful food.
