Minutes of the SCC meeting, Sunday, April 18, 1993. Attending: Bryan, Sara, Cathy, Tim, Kevin, Jon, Aaron, Lori, Jeremy, Tom, Jodi, Scott, Jessica, Carl 1. The interfaith Seder with Hillel was interesting and a real learning experience. 2. We had 16 donors at the blood drive, less than our goal of 30. However, some donors may not have been recorded as associated with the Campus Center. Jessica also has ideas about how to involve more people next time. 3. Elections were held last Wednesday. The new officers are Chair: Sara Anderson Treasurer: Jeremy Porter Secretary: Scott Lindhurst Worship: Jon Bohmann Outreach: Aaron Halberg Social Ministry: Scott Templeton and Dave Nelson Social Activities: Krista Bultmann and Amy Hartsough Fine Arts: Carl Anderson Education: still open Directing Committee Representatives: Jessica Donze and Bryan Anderson 4. Committee Reports Outreach: Three students attended the off-campus student reception on April 7th and stayed for worship. Worship: Wed, April 21st is an Earth Day worship, put together by the committee. For the rest of the Easter season, the "Lord of the Dance" theme continues. The committee has a new meeting time, Monday at noon. Fine Arts: The next exhibit at the Campus Center is works by Verona High School students. Social Ministries: The Thursday lunches are winding down; there will not be any more speakers, but they are still eating lunch. A Habitat for Humanity project is coming up sometime; stay tuned for details. Education: Jodi's class is going well at 2:30 on Mondays. Social Activities: The Varsity Band concert was great and was well attended. We'll probably go again next year. Treasurer: The student fund has $1783 right now, of which $100 has been allocated to each committee. Directing Committee: They are working on getting the money to pay a third staff member to replace Jodi after she leaves in January 1994. Staff Report: Staff will be gone Thursday and Friday (April 22-23) at the LCMWUM meeting in Milwaukee. They will talk about getting a third staff member. However, money is getting tight, so in the near future we may have to do more fund raising. For example, we may hold car washes, sell popcorn, have a rummage sale, or sell students as servants for a day (probably with the students' permission). 5. The planning meeting is Friday, April 23rd, at the Center. In addition to the regular committees, we will include a group to talk about fundraising ideas, led by Bryan. 6. Should the center get a camera to record history? We would like to have records of parties and other events, but right now there is nothing like a Campus Center photo album. Two options are to get disposable cameras for each committee or to buy one good 35mm camera that would be kept in the office. Then each group could document its activities. 7. The study retreat is scheduled for April 30 to May 2. All day Saturday is set aside for studying. Those who do not want to study are welcome to attend, but will not be allowed to bother the studious. Cost for the weekend is $18, or (by special arrangement only) $12 for just Saturday night. We leave Friday, April 30 at 6:30 and return Sunday about noon. There is a limit of 26 people on the retreat, and everyone must sign up and pay by Wed. April 28th. 8. Should we do something special for graduating students and others who are leaving Madison? Yes! On May 5, at worship, we will acknowledge them and give them LCC mugs.
