Minutes of the SCC meeting, Sunday, November 15, 1992. Attending: Tom Evans, Barbie, Laurie, Tom, Tim, Kathy, Jessica, Sara, Larry, Carl, Scott The meeting opened with devotions by Kathy. 1. Carl Anderson has volunteered to be Fine Arts chair. 2. LBH Fundraising: We have $1485 so far, plus the $500 matching grant from Lutheran Brotherhood, and donations are still coming in. 3. Committee Reports Outreach: They are visiting on-campus students every week and phoning off-campus students. Worship: They are making an Advent service for the two Advent services. Also planned for Advent is a Jesse tree, a tree with symbols of Jesus's heritage hanging on it, one symbol per day of Advent. On Dec. 13, there will be a Sunday worship at the Center at 11:00; Luther Memorial is not having its 11:00 worship due to a congregational meeting. Fine Arts: asks students to bring ornaments for our new macrame Christmas tree being made by Bonnie. Social Ministries: No Thursday lunches for a couple weeks because of Oxfam fast day and Thanskgiving. The last lunch for the semester is Dec. 10 (Dec. 17 is during exams). Education: Tom's class has just started. Social Activities: The Halloween party was of average size; it was in competition with the many other Halloween activities in Madison, so maybe next year we will have it on a different day. Coming activities are - Tree decorating Wed. Dec. 2 at 4:00 (before service) - Winter banquet Sat. Dec. 5, at the Civic Center. A cash bar opens at 6:00, with dinner at 7:00, followed by entertainment and dancing. - Caroling with Bethel, Wed. Dec. 9 at 7:30. Directing Committee: The call committee is still looking at resumes, and Tom Evans talked about the call process and their progress so far. They do not know when to expect someone to be hired. Also, they increased Bonnie Lee's salary to go with her increased responsibilities at the Center. Staff Report: The national LSM retreat is during Christmas break, and there is still room for more people to go. Bethel is hosting its annual Thanksgiving dinner for students this Sunday, Nov. 22. 4. This Wednesday's cost supper (Nov. 18) is an Alternative Thanks- giving, featuring American Indian foods. 5. The December planning meeting has been set for Friday Dec. 11, starting at 4:45.
