Minutes of the CCC meeting, September 4, 1991. Attending: Lisa L., Karen T., Mark E., Cyndi, Amy S., Jay E., Andy M., Scott L., Kathy O., Kathy C, Nicole V., Wendy M., Mike. Lisa did devotions to begin the meeting. 1. Who should we donate offerings to? 25% goes toward worship supplies, $20/month goes to a charity (currently Save the Children), and the rest is given to a local organization. Save the Children hasn't responded to two of Cyndi's letters and has relatively high overhead, so we decided that we will send the $20 to Lutheran World Relief. We decided to coordinate the local cause donations with the social ministries monthly themes. For the September theme of the environment, we will donate to the Nature Conservancy. For October, tying in with the AIDS quilt coming to the center, offerings will go to the AIDS hospice opening soon in Madison. November's family theme will go along with donations to the Women's Shelter. The five offerings in December and January will go to the Salvation Army. 2. The Thursday before Thanksgiving, we will encourage fasting for Oxfam, giving the money saved to them for world hunger relief. We will not participate in the CROP walk (also for hunger) because there is not enough time before the walk to collect pledges. 3. The deadline for Grapevine articles is Oct. 15th; each committee should submit an article with its November and December programs. 4. After much discussion, we came up with the following schedule for celebrations before Christmas: Wed. Dec. 4 Caroling Fri. Dec. 6 St. Nicholas Day dance on the new MPR floor Wed. Dec. 11 A special cost supper (exact form to be decided later) On November 1st there will be a dance to celebrate All Saints' Day. 5. Wendy and Lisa read the skit they wrote for the Welcome Banquet and we arranged to practice it.
